- Scott Joplin [right] (between July 1867 and January 1868 – April 1, 1917) was an African-American composer andpianist, born nearTexarkana,Texas, into the first post-slavery generation. He achieved fame for his uniqueragtime compositions, and was dubbed the "King of Ragtime." During his brief career, he wrote forty-four original ragtime pieces, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. One of his first pieces, the "Maple Leaf Rag", became ragtime's first and most influential hit, and remained so for a century.
- Ton Van Bergeyk [below] doesn't seem to be on the internet anywhere. His pieces are ragtime on fingerstyle acoustic guitar, and he is a mad man. All I know about the recordings is that they're Dutch and they're from the 70s.
More Ragtime
- more Scott Joplin (obv. different tracks from what's packaged above) if you are likewise obsessed
- Eden Electronic Ensemble - Plugged In Joplin.rar no idea about this one but it's 'electronic' Joplin, it basically has to be worth a listen.
- ScottJoplin_KingOfRagtime1993.
zip (still old-ass warm recordings) - Joshua Rifkin renditions (more recent, but apparently some of the best renditions of his work around -- I haven't listened yet.)
These are .flac files, which work fine, but typically are huge. Hence, it is in a 4-part download.
